How technology has changed academia

Laura at 11D has a short post enumerating ten ways technology has changed academia. I'd be curious to know which of these technological developments has had the greatest impact on our teaching, particularly in the discipline of philosophy. (You may remember we've explored PowerPoint before.)

  1. Not that this technology is new, but I find that being able to receive student papers electronically, comment on them in a word processor, and return them electronically makes a big difference to the quality (and quantity) of comments that I can make on papers. My comments on hard-copy papers are brief and sometimes cryptic. With electronic versions, I have space to elaborate.
